Rep. Gina Johnsen welcomed William Hale, a supply officer from the Campbell Township Fire Department, to the Michigan House of Representatives' annual 9-11 Memorial Ceremony. The event took place on the Capitol lawn on Wednesday.

The ceremony featured the ringing of a fire bell in remembrance of first responders and public safety officers who have died in the line of duty across Michigan over the past year.

As part of this yearly tradition, legislators invite first responders and military members from their communities to join them for the service.

“It was an honor to welcome Officer Hale to attend our memorial ceremony,” Johnsen said. “We can’t thank our public safety officers and first responders enough for all they do to keep us safe. It’s a fitting time for this ceremony as we continue to remember and honor the heroes who responded to the tragic attacks on America 23 years ago.”
