FOIA Request to Barry County Election Division Regarding Voting Machines Testing Report on October 30, 2024.

We at SE Grand Rapids News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, have formally requested records under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq. The request is specifically for the pre-election test reports of the elections voting machines in PDF format.

The requested report should include key details such as the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether it passed or failed the test.

As a media organization, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. In light of our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.
