Lakewood Public Schools issued the following announcement on Mar 9.

Atomics 5256 - FIRST Robotics Engineered to Win

We are Proud of our Student Engineers!

Atomics 5256 FIRST Robotics had their first district competition. Lingering technical issues prevented them from getting drive practice beforehand, forcing our new drive team of Marek Gallagher and Sam Logan to undergo a "trial by fire" when they were thrown into qualifying rounds.  With one of the more powerful drivetrains on the field, manning the controls proved tricky, but the team still managed a series of successful climbs beginning in their first round. IMPRESSIVE!  The team finished the competition with 10 district ranking points and team Safety Rep Ophelia Gray received recognition as a UL Safety All-Star.

The Atomics will next travel to GVSU for the West Michigan District event on March 24-26.  Come out and cheer them on!
