Lakewood Public Schools issued the following announcement on Nov 15.
Lakewood Elementary Works to Recycle it All, No Matter How Small Mr. Wilcox’s 2nd Graders Help to Reuse Old News
There’s no substitute for nature. So Lakewood Elementary second grade students are taking proactive steps to protect it. Under the guidance of their teacher Mr. Wilcox, our students are getting involved in a simple way to save energy and water for our planet. Together, they collect used paper from classrooms to reduce the amount of waste that goes into landfills and save natural resources.
The last stop is the parking lot where they load up the Paper Gator so old news can be reused. Mr. Wilcox is empowering Lakewood students to be good stewards of our planet, save beautiful trees, and be a part of the solution. Learning in Lakewood means you most likely live in a rural, agricultural community. What a great way to take care of the land where you live.
