The residents of West Michigan are not only fighting COVID-19, but they are also faced with flooding issues. The problem is felt by people living near water sources that tend to interfere with their daily lives.
According to 3WWMT, Barry County residents were concerned that the battle with the coronavirus would halt the flood relief that they usually receive whenever this problem arises.
Speaking to 3WWMT, Kevin Wilson, a property owner on Cloverdale Lake, said the problem comes from the poor drainage system that is maintained by Barry County. According to Wilson, the management at Barry County should speak out on this issue and assure the residents that they are doing everything possible to deal with this problem.
Jim Dull, the Barry County Drain Commissioner, said that the county has been working on reducing the water in the lakes, and last year they managed to get the level down by 18 inches. He also said that the county is doing everything to get the water levels down by May.
