Twenty-four graduates from the Montcalm County Fire Academy have completed their training, receiving certificates of completion after more than 300 hours of study over eight months. These individuals are now prepared to serve as firefighters in Montcalm, Ionia, and Kent counties.
The academy's graduating class represents 14 fire departments, including Greenville Public Safety, Belding Fire Dept., Carson City Fire Dept., Richland Township Fire Dept., Saranac Community Fire Dept., Hubbardston Fire Dept., Berlin-Orange Township Fire Dept., Montcalm Township Fire Dept., Sheridan Fire Dept., Home Township Fire Dep., Lakeview District Fire Dept., Spencer Township Fire & Rescue Dept., and Lyons Twp Lyons-Muir Fire Dept.
Following the successful completion of their state firefighter exam, these new firefighters will join their respective departments to help protect communities by fighting fires and saving lives.
