The Davenport University swimming and diving teams concluded a successful weekend at the Don Kimble Invitational held at the Kentwood Aquatic Center. The women's team secured second place among eight competing schools, while the men's team finished third out of seven.
Davenport's divers achieved personal bests, with Grace Overbeek scoring 313.8 in the three-meter dive and Dylan Theisen scoring 375.2 in the same category. Overbeek also scored 342 points in the one-meter dive, while Theisen earned third place with a score of 414.35.
In swimming events, Davenport athletes set new records and achieved notable performances. The women's team set a relay record in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:35.66, featuring Julia Mizik, Ella Wagner, Rebecca Wallis, and Emelie Hellgren. They also set a record in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:48.
On the men's side, Gerard Labernia Oms broke records in several distance events including the 500 free (4:35.30), 1,000 free (9:37.72), and 1,650 free (16:02.91). Owen Stender excelled in breaststroke events achieving "B" Cut times of 54.20 in the 100 breast and 2:00.21 in the 200 breast.
Other standout performances included Wallis achieving "B" Cuts in freestyle events and Pinkowicz setting new team records across multiple backstroke events.
