Davenport University athletes earn top honors during spring 2021-22 season

Davenport University's athletic achievements during the spring season of the 2021-22 academic year were noteworthy, with several individuals earning prestigious accolades across various sports. The outdoor track and field season saw Isaiah Schafer achieve significant success. Schafer won a national championship in the shot put and also triumphed at indoor nationals in March. His efforts earned him recognition as the Field Athlete of the Year in the Midwest Region by USTFCCCA, as well as GLIAC Field Athlete of the Meet and Year in outdoor track and field. He was also named Second Team Academic All-American by CoSIDA and received a GLIAC Commissioner's Award.

Emma Schafer excelled in the heptathlon, earning All-American status and was named GLIAC Field Athlete of the Meet at the Outdoor Championships. Noah Dooley set a new record in the decathlon at the GLIAC Outdoor Championship and qualified for NCAA Nationals.

In baseball, Nolan Anspaugh was honored as Second Team All-American by ABCA/Rawlings and received GLIAC Player of the Year honors. Rachel Griffin from softball matched this achievement with her own GLIAC Player of the Year title, First Team All-Region selection by D2CCA, and a GLIAC Commissioner's Award.

Bradley Mogire made history for Davenport's men's golf team by winning medalist honors at the GLIAC Championships, becoming First Team All-GLIAC, and marking himself as Davenport's first individual medalist at these championships. In men's tennis, Quintan van Wijk earned recognition as GLIAC Freshman of the Year and First Team All-GLIAC.

Ayanna Turrubiates from women's lacrosse led NCAA Division II in goals per game (4.94) while being named First Team All-GLIAC. Her teammate Anna Glynn achieved Second Team All-Region status. Jonathan Bulmer left a lasting legacy on men's tennis with his all-time wins record in singles and doubles.
