Corey Wojcik is seeking the Republican nomination to serve as Keene Township Supervisor for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on August 6.

Per Ionia County's candidate list, Wojcik is running in the GOP primary against Kim Newell.

Wojcik's service to Keene Township began 17 years ago when he was appointed to the planning commission, and he has served as the Township Board rep on that commission for 12 years. He also serves as President of the Board of Appeals. He has served three consecutive terms as a Keene Township Trustee.

In a Q&A with the Daily News, he said he felt his "willingness to listen to both sides of an issue and work to find a sensible solution" sets him apart from other candidates.

"I am not closed minded. I do not go out and share lies to the residents of Keene Township," he said. "I inform them with the facts of the matter in which we face when asked questions. Prior to renewable energy topics in our township I never saw any of the so-called protect Keene group candidates attend a single meeting."

Wojcik also shared with the Daily News his goals for his next term including bringing "peace back into Keene Township. I hope to improve residents’ participation at our meetings but to move away from the argumentative atmosphere we have been experiencing for the past two to three years."

In a press release, Private Property Rights PAC — a political action committee whose "mission is to safeguard and promote the ownership and control of private property" — endorsed Wojcik, stating that he "has demonstrated a profound commitment to the principles of property rights and governance that respect the rights of individual property owners" and praising his stance against government overreach.

Private Property Rights PAC Senior Adviser Madeline Morris expressed confidence in Wojcik's commitment to private property rights and government transparency and accountability, predicting that he "will help protect the foundational rights that are vital to personal freedom and economic stability" in Keene Township.

According to the Michigan Townships Association, the township supervisor's responsibilities include moderating board and annual meetings, acting as the township's legal agent, developing the township's budget, and appointing some commission members. Supervisors are elected to four-year terms.
