News outlets are reporting the possibility of wind, snow, and ice as we approach the holiday weekend. | City of Niles
News outlets are reporting the possibility of wind, snow, and ice as we approach the holiday weekend. The City of Niles would like to remind citizens to prepare before the storm. We strive to provide near-constant service, but Michigan weather can hinder this feat. Remember these next few things while you prepare for the storm.
° Use caution if traveling for the holidays and avoid travel all together if possible. Winter weather has the potential to make roads impassible.
° Have an emergency supply of some non-perishable food, batteries, flashlights, warm blankets, water, etc. in case of a power outage.
° Check on your neighbors.
° If possible, ensure that your generator is ready for use.
° STAY AWAY from any downed power lines and report them to the City of Niles at 269-683-4700 ext. 8004 or our after hours number, 269-683-6161.
° Remember to bundle up if you have to venture outside to avoid frostbite.
° Stay alert as you make your way outside.
