Mr. Wikman’s Art of Design Lakewood High School Students Uncover Artistic Pathways
Mr. Wikman’s art and design courses offer students a look into multiple artistic career pathways. Whether its art and design, architectural design, or inventing products, Mr. Wikman is providing instructional experiences to help his students find their interests toward potential careers. Student artists can be found refining shading, drawing and sketching techniques to create self-portraits. Or using different art mediums, students reflect upon favorite holidays and capture the memories in detailed sculpture. Through the generosity the Lakewood Educational Foundation, Mr. Wikman secured a grant which purchased two 3-D printers for the classroom. Students put inventive skills to work, planning, designing and recreating models of toys using the 3-D printers. Regardless of the project, their teacher motivates them through encouragement and promotes a growth mindset. Hands-on creative learning, design thinking, and inventive processes lead students to innovation that uncovers the possibilities for future professions. Thanks Mr. Wikman, for inspiring Lakewood students to find and apply their creative passions. We are deeply grateful to the Lakewood Educational Foundation for providing the extra’s that promote innovation and educational experiences.
