Mrs. Erickson’s Game Plan Helps Students Reach Milestone Goals
Lakewood’s Littlest Vikings Football Frenzy
“Position your feet, point at your target, step, and throw!” Mrs. Erickson knows that supporting her students as they engage in play helps their skill development. In this fun-filled phys ed class, our youngest learners were learning how to overhand throw with footballs. Mrs. Erickson knows that once they can throw reasonably well, they will be ready for a multitude of sports and fitness activities. lined-up on both sides of the gym, pairs of students were practicing throwing a football, developing muscles, as well as refining motor and balance skills. The nurturing praise from their teacher, “Good throw, good catch! and nice work!” was just the right encouragement that will sustain students throughout their educational day. Teachers who point out students’ strengths understand that praise and approval is key to helping them reach their full potential and improvements in the classroom. Lakewood early childhood learners are having a ball!
