The wind and rain that rolled in yesterday sure woke us up! We wanted to send out a short reminder to citizens when inclement weather strikes.
Remember…
- Stay away from any downed wires or power lines and report them to the City of Niles at 269-683-4700 ext. 8004 or by email at service@nilesmi.org. If you see downed power lines during non-business hours, call our After-Hours Number at 269-683-6161. NEVER approach a downed line, as they may be touching fences or other items that are not easily visible.
- Power outages affect our traffic lights too. If a traffic light is out, treat it as a four-way stop sign.
- Slow Down! The roads can be littered with debris and fallen limbs after a storm. Be sure to take it slow and watch for any obstructions in the road. Being aware of your surroundings is always important.
- Crews are hard at work to remove these obstructions. Make sure you give them some space too.
- Summer storms can mean hot, hot, hot days! Remember to stay hydrated and take it easy to avoid heat stroke.
