That's never going to happen in my town. Those are the words spoken to often in communities through out the country. We would like that statement to be true, but being in the emergency industry, we know accidents and emergencies happen everyday. Saturday the City of Caro Fire Dept. had to opportunity to host a mock mass casualty bus/vehicle accident training. The weather may have made things more challenging but we don't have the luxury of chosing when emergency situations happen. This training was designed to show how chaotic a scene of this magnitude can become. We feel this was a very knowledge filled and vital training that will benefit many departments if this were ever to become a real life senario again in the future. The Caro Fire dept would like to thank Unionville Fire, Fairgrove Fire, Akron Fire, Vassar Fire, and MMR EMT students for their hands on roll in this mock scene. We would also like to give a huge thank you to Steve Anderson(Tuscola County Emergency services manager), Gene Pierce (Superintendant of the Tuscola County Tech Center ISD),Michigan State Police Emergency Services Manager for Region 3, Great Lakes Public Safety, Insurance Company, Mikes Towing of Saginaw, Bullet Towing of Caro, D&J Towing of Unionville, Tuscola County Fire Instructors Association, and the several tech center students who made this day possible by playing the roll of injured patients.
