Oh the Places You Will Go…
Middle School Social Studies Students Explore Geographic Areas of South America
Prior to winter break, Mrs. LaFave’s social studies students explored South America in preparation for a test on some interesting topics. In their fact-finding quest, they learned about living at different elevations, use of elevation maps, rainfall, sea levels, land surfaces, and more. Geography skills were also in play as students located North, South, East, and West on maps. Social studies instruction also provides an in depth look at current events, economies, traditions, and global societies. Through classroom research, learning targets, and comprehensive conversations, middle school learners are becoming well-informed about regions of the world, increasing understanding of cultures in other countries, and growing into responsible citizens. They are learning about the real world around them and building skills that will serve them in their future. Thank you Mrs. LaFave, for the high quality teaching and learning in your social studies lessons that prepares our students for nothing less than success.
