Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's unilateral governance is being opposed by more people than just President Donald Trump's supporters, with over two dozen lawsuits filed against her on a variety of issues.
Though there was speculation that Whitmer was on the shortlist to be the Democratic party's running mate alongside Vice President Joe Biden, she wasn't chosen for that position.
“Her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, which hit Michigan harder than most states in the outbreak’s early months, earned her national praise, attacks from Trump supporters and a 'Saturday Night Live' parody," MLive reported.

Many are finding it unsurprising that she wasn't chosen to be Biden's running mate.
“I don’t think it’s a rebuke at all of Gov. Whitmer and her leadership that she’s displayed, certainly, within the last six months,” T.J. Bucholz, president and managing partner of Vanguard Public Affairs, told MLive. “It’s more about electoral math.”
Whitmer said she supports Biden and U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris, a Democrat from California, who will be running alongside Biden as his vice presidential candidate in the upcoming November election.
"I am extraordinarily proud to support @KamalaHarris and @JoeBiden! They will be a fierce team to Build America Back Better. #WeHaveHerBack," Whitmer wrote on Twitter.
Many Trump supporters are speaking out against Whitmer for her unilateral exercise of emergency powers during the COVID-19 pandemic. There have been approximately two dozen lawsuits filed against Whitmer involving her 161 executive orders issued during the pandemic, according to Michigan Capitol Confidential.
Those who are suing the governor vary: an orchard farm market, a real estate company, an automotive glass company, a bowling center association, a property maintenance firm and a jewelry store, Michigan Capitol Confidential reported. Whitmer has also received lawsuits from an engine oil and auto parts business, a car wash association, a dental office, a barber and a fitness facilities association.
