Students at Grand Valley State University who have been forced to move out of on-campus housing will have their money refunded for the shortened winter semester, according to a statement on the University’s website.
“Normal refund procedures apply (check or direct deposit) for prorated housing, dining or parking credits that result in an overpayment to the University. In some cases, credits will pay toward or pay off an outstanding balance due to the University,” the statement reads.
While graduation will not be held as scheduled, the school is not canceling the semester altogether. All learning is being conducted virtually. The University is providing laptops for students who need them, and Charter Internet is providing free access for 60 days so students can complete their coursework.
If students were unable to remove their belongings from dorms before the deadline, the University says those items will have to stay in place until at least April 14. Commencement has been postponed, but the University says graduates will be honored in an undetermined way in the future.
