Speaker Pro Tem Rachelle Smit recently facilitated a session in Lansing where Detroit voters and community leaders, including activists Ramon Jackson and Pastor Lorenzo Sewell, were invited to testify. The group raised concerns about alleged systemic voter fraud within Detroit’s election systems, based on their investigations.

Rachelle Smit, representing Martin, stated: “This week, we heard allegations of systemic voter fraud in Michigan elections, yet the Secretary of State and her departments say we should just continue to trust them.” She highlighted that multiple individuals claimed discrepancies in their voting records, suggesting potential issues with ballot casting or attribution. Smit criticized Secretary of State Benson for not cooperating with efforts to address these claims.

Smit further commented on the response from Democrats: “Instead of working with each other to get answers from election officials, Democrats call my committee – and the brave folks who testified on their lived experiences – nothing more than a circus act. These disenfranchised voters from Detroit deserve more and the Democrats should apologize.”

A lawsuit has been filed by Detroit residents against both the city and the Michigan Department of State. Speaker Pro Tem Smit expressed pride in providing a platform for these individuals to voice their concerns as part of efforts to improve what she described as a “broken system.”
